The Higher Institute for Environmental Protection and Research, in collaboration with the Department of Engineering and Geology of the “G. d'Annunzio" of Chieti-Pescara and the Department of Earth Sciences of Sapienza, University of Rome, organize the V Summer School of Geomorphology, Ecology and Biology in marine and insular environments - Asinara Island, 9-14 September 2024

The researchers of the Strong Sea project have developed three maps to better understand the Marine Protected Area of ​​Asinara.

The first map is dedicated to biocenoses, the communities of living organisms present in the area. The second reports the location and extension of the Posidonia oceanica and coral reef habitats. In the third, it is possible to identify the buoy fields, the zoning of the Marine Protected Area and the entry and anchoring points.

The event will be an opportunity to highlight the actions taken in Corsica and Sardinia to address the challenge of ALDFG - fishing gear lost, abandoned or discarded at sea.
The program will develop around a series of round tables led by various speakers and experts from the maritime and fisheries sector.

Strong Sea Life - Survey and TReatment ON Ghost nets - and the SeaWatcher App will be present at the next round of the "17th National Latin Sailing Championship", organized by the historic Circolo Nautico Torres which will take place in Stintino from 21st to 24th September.

The meeting organized with local fishermen took place last Saturday 11 February 2023 in Castelsardo at the "Il Crustaceo" Business Network Conference Room who, thanks to their contribution, made it possible to recover fishing gear lost on the seabed. The data that emerged following the questionnaires administered in recent months to fishing operators and boaters in the areas between Stintino, Porto Torres and Castelsardo were then illustrated, created in collaboration with FLAG North Sardinia

The Strong Sea project and its staff thank the fishermen for their contribution in reporting missing fishing gear.
We are happy to meet them on 11 February in Castelsardo to show, with the videos made during the identification and removal of the fishing gear they reported, how important their contribution has been to the protection of the marine environment.
It will be an opportunity to show everyone how together we can do a lot.

This morning at the "Guglielmo Marconi" higher education institute, the project was presented which aims to safeguard and improve the Posidonia oceanica meadows and the Coralligenous reef.

On 20 December 2022, the presentation and scientific dissemination event of the STRONG SEA Project will be held at the "Guglielmo Marconi" Higher Education Institute in Civitavecchia.
The event includes a meeting with ISPRA researchers and students of the fifth year of the scientific high school, applied sciences option.

The researchers of the Strong Sea LIFE project this morning met the students of the "Paglietti" nautical institute in Porto Torres and told them about the project's objectives.

The event "Strong Sea Life is tinged with Labronico" took place on November 25 in the Panoramic Room of the Livorno Aquarium, an important day, full of food for thought and discussion, which showed the value of the Strong Sea LIFE project

As foreseen by the Life program, the Strong Sea project wants to share knowledge and techniques used in the Gulf of Asinara in order to replicate the recovery model in the places affected by the same threat: the loss of fishing gear at sea. For this purpose ISPRA is organizing the conference entitled "STRONG Sea Life is tinged with Labronico" which will be held in Livorno on November 24, 2022 at the Panoramic room of the city's Aquarium.

The #strongsealife project was presented to the students of the primary and secondary school classes involved in the "Knowledge Laboratories" of CEAS.INARA (Environmental Education and Sustainability Center of the Asinara National Park)

Reconnaissance activities for missing gear in the Gulf of Asinara are starting, thanks to the collaboration with the divers of the Sassari Fire Brigade. The activities will allow us to update the data in our possession and will allow us to plan the upcoming removal and inactivation activities. 

Serena Lomiri, ISPRA Project Leader of Strong Sea Life, will participate in the Elective Assembly of Confcooperative Lavoro e Servizi Sardegna, making a contribution with particular reference to the recent and important collaboration created on the occasion of the launch of the Strong Sea Project between ISPRA and cooperative enterprises engaged in the various activities in support of the same.

On April 13, 2022, the presentation conference of the STRONG SEA project - Survey and TReatment ON Ghost LIFE, a project funded under the LIFE program, sector priority Nature and Biodiversity, on the funds established in the 2014-2020 programming.
